Abstract

The publishing of the schoolbooks, mostly religious schoolbooks had an irreplaceable role in the editorial work of the Saint Adalbert Association right after its founding. Initially it was especially the textbooks for elementary schools but later, in addition to religious textbooks the schoolbooks of the different school subjects were also published. Despite the fact that the Saint Adalbert Association was a Roman Catholic one, its publishing activities in this field exceeded the limits of the religion and the textbooks were also used in the non-Catholic schools with the great success. In the years 1870 – 1918 the Saint Adalbert Association despite the financial difficulties published several religious and non-religious textbooks in the many editions.
