Abstract

The article summarises an actual fragmentary knowledge about the history of church library, situated in the Monastery of Premonstratensians in Leles (district Trebišov, Slovakia) until 1948. Since the origin of monastery dated back to the end of the 12th century, it is thought to be the oldest monastery in Zemplín historical region, with its own rich history, however many times stricken by the adversity of historical events. At present, the historical library from Leles is stored in The Premonstratensians Abbey of the St. John the Baptist in Jasov (district Košice – okolie, Slovakia), for that reason we are trying to present brief characteristics of the mentioned library, even though not complete, as the research is still in progress.
