Abstract

Matúš Palumbini was one of our most important scholars in the second half of the 17th
century. Like many others, he was forced to leave his homeland as a result of religious persecution.
At the same time, however, his work in exile enabled him to obtain a high-quality
education, which he later applied in the field of science, primarily as a philosopher and
physician. In this article, however, I do not follow the life of Palumbini, nor the analysis
of his scientific work. I focus mainly on the perception of his personality by people who
had the opportunity to get to know him.
