Abstract

Almanacs and yearbooks published during the 19th century in the territory of contemporary
Slovakia belong to important sources of information, relevant to research of natural
sciences and humanities historical development. They were focused on various themes
and contents. Statistical yearbooks and reports of county offices can be included among
them. The establishment of trade and industry chambers played key role in this area. The
core activity of the Hungarian Trade and Industry Chamber in Bratislava was to publish
the yearbooks – aimed at Bratislava (1866), Nitra (1871) and Trenčín (1877) counties.
They represent a rich source of various historical information focused on industry and agriculture.
Documents enable us to take a look inside activities of cultural societies, hospitals,
associations and banks. Simultaneously, they contain information about the situation and
conditions in the education system in various regions, population and important cultural
monuments.
