The paper deals with academic peregrination of students from the territory of today’s Slovakia in the 16th and 17th centuries to German universities on the basis of preserved dissertation prints of these students. Dissertation prints – graduation theses, disputes, and dissertations were issued on the occasion of the defence of a certain degree of academic rank. Based on the available sources, we know that more than 1,200 students studied at the German universities in the given period. So far, we have been able to identify 355 students with more than 800 dissertation prints. The most visited university was the University of Wittenberg and according to the place of origin of the students, most of them came from Bratislava. The paper pays special attention to medical graduates and the preserved dissertation prints from this scientific field.
