Student corporations started to come into existence at higher and secondary schools in the late 18th century, but mainly in the 19th century and in the first half of the 20th century. They were focused on different activities and helped to develop the intellectual and physical abilities of the students; brought additional benefits to their personal development. Self-education corporations occupied a prominent place among them. The important sources of information about them are the annual school reports registered in the special series of the Slovak national retrospective bibliography. The article presents student self-education and other corporations that operated at the German Evangelical Lyceum in Kežmarok. As the main source of information, the author used the annual school reports of these schools.
